The Indian cricket team will host Bangladesh, New Zealand and England from September to February.

With a month to go for the start of the Indian cricket team‘s home season, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has tweaked the venues of three matches for various reasons.

India’s home season will start on September 19 with a two-test series against Bangladesh, followed by a three-match T20I series against the same opposition.

The Rohit Sharma-led test side will then host New Zealand for three matches. Next, Suryakumar Yadav will lead India on the tour of South Africa which comprises four T20Is before the Asian giants embark on a crucial five-match test tour of Australia.

Upon returning, India will host England for five T20Is and three ODIs, the last of which is scheduled for February 12.

BCCI makes changes to venues of three T20Is

On August 13, the board announced that the venues for three matches – the first IND vs BAN T20I and the first two IND vs ENG T20Is – have been changed.

The first T20I against Bangladesh, which was initially planned to be played in Dharamsala on 6th October, has been moved to Gwalior. The board said that it took the decision “owing to upgrades and renovation work being carried out by the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association in the dressing rooms.”

This will be the first international match in Gwalior since the India vs South Africa ODI in 2010, when Sachin Tendulkar became the first man to raise a double century in ODIs.

Further, the BCCI has swapped the venues for the first two T20Is against England. The first T20I was previously set to be played in Chennai on January 22 and the second in Kolkata on January 25. But the venues have now been swapped with dates remaining the same.

“The venue change was necessitated following a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal regarding their prior Republic Day commitments and obligations,” the BCCI explained the reason for this swap of venues. The dates of the matches remain the same.
