How To Play Edward The Man Eating Train – A Beginner’s Guide
So what’s the goal in Edward The Main Eating Train? To survive as long as you can, and rack up Tickets for your survival and successes. You can use tickets to buy weapons, rail cars, and generally make your life easier.
The Stations
When you start playing, you should spawn on a station. There are numerous different stations all across the map. They serve as respawn spots for when you die, trading hubs to pick up new gear, and providers of activities to kill time while you’re waiting for the train to leave. We’ll run over some of the important features.
- Vendors – These change between stations. There will always be one basic vendor on the platform, but aside from that you may find different title, rail car, or weapon vendors on each station. What they stock will also change. Make sure to get to know their usual stock.
- Smuggler – A special vendor found next to the platform, his stock rotates with each station change.
- Map And Map Vote – Near the platform you should find the map board, a large billboard with all the stations on the Archipelago and what they offer. If your station is at a junction, you can use the boxes in front of it to vote for the next destination.
- Abandoned Crate Obby – Beyond a tent archway on the other end of the platform you’ll find a parkour course. This will change with each station. If you can reach the end, you’ll find an Abandoned Crate. This will give you a random reward, tickets, maybe even a weapon.
Weapons And Cars
Vendors at the stations offer two things that are immediately important for your survival, weapons and rail cars.
Weapons are a selection of different firearms that you’ll use to defend yourself. Their prices and stats vary wildly, with different weapons excelling in different situations.
Cars are a little more complicated. Each player gets their own car of the train during travel. These are your main way to hide from Edward and his followers. You can buy new cars that have different useful features, like more armor, ladders onto the roof, even mounted weaponry.
The Trip
One the countdown finishes and the train departs, now the real challenge begins.
Edward And Cultist Status
Before it begins, you should get an indicator of two things. First, how angry Edward is. This determines how well equipped the train monster will be.
Second, the level of cult activity. This determines how many cultists might attack you on the trip.
If both are high, well.. it’ll be an interesting ride.
Attacks
You should spawn in your own car on the train. A counter on the top will let you know how long you have to survive until the next station. Edward, the large, monstrous train creature, will spawn somewhere in the countryside near the tracks, and begin to attack the train.
You can target Edward and deal damage, potentially disabling some of his weapons, or even driving him away.
Edward can also call in cultists in vehicles to fire on you and the train. These are weaker than Edward, and can be dealt with by targeting either the cultists themselves, or their vehicles. Bringing them down nets you extra tickets.
Crates
There are several kinds of crate scattered randomly inside the train cars. Interacting with these takes a while, but gives useful rewards.
- Ammo Crates – Marked with orange bullets. Interact with this to replenish ammunition for your weapons.
- Medical Crates – Marked with a red cross. Interact with one of these to restore your First Aid Kit or Trauma Kit charges.
- Ticket Crates – Marked with a green ticket. Interact with one of these to get some bonus tickets.
Reaching The Station
The object is to survive until you reach the next station. This happens when the counter reaches zero. When it does, you should find yourself at the next station, with its facilities. You should also get a ticket bonus.
If Edward takes you out, don’t worry. You should just spawn at the next station ahead of the train, so take the time to do the obby or complete some shopping while you wait.
