Stellar Mercenaries, the Vertical-Scrolling Space Shooter, Drops a New Jupiter Expansion

Stellar Mercenaries has received a new upgrade, bringing the fight straight to the biggest planet. The Jupiter Expansion is here, and it’s almost doubling the content of the game. There are more worlds, more enemies and more missions.

In case you haven’t checked it out yet, Stellar Mercenaries is a vertical-scrolling action arcade space shooter. You take on procedurally generated missions, customize your ships and weapons and become the most feared mercenary in the solar system.

So, What’s New in the Jupiter Expansion of Stellar Mercenaries?

Jupiter itself becomes a battleground, along with its infamous moons Ganymede, Io and Europa. Each one has its own challenges. Ganymede is a barren wasteland, Io is covered in volcanic debris Europa is frozen and treacherous. Meanwhile, Jupiter is full of storms.

Tere are two new factions as well. The Jovian Empire is a powerful military force looking to lock down the region. While the Pirate Council is a chaotic alliance of outlaws.

The expansion also brings in 50 fresh missions with new objectives to Stellar Mercenaries. There’s hyperspace hunting, where you track down elusive targets, piracy missions, escort missions and even train defense missions.

The update delivers six brand-new ships. They are Raider, Goblin, Mako, Boxer, Lightening and Skybreaker. While the roster of new weapons include The Hyper Velocity Mortar, Plasma Seeker, EMP Rockets, Mauler Cannon, Electron Beam and Neutron Beam.

There Are New Hazards, Shields and More

The update introduces Tier 4 shields and armour. And the new hazards include asteroid fields, elite enemy squadrons and the Pacifier. Some enemy mercenaries have levelled up. The new Nightmare, Riot and Warhawk classes, for instance.
